HALLOWEEN TIPS AND HINTS

FOR THE KIDS

1. Try to buy low calorie or sugar free candy if you can.

2. Better yet avoid the candy altogether.  Use substitutes such as pretzels, stickers, etc.

3. When buying candy, purchase the smaller mini size pieces.  They don't have as many calories.

4. Have your kids stay away from sugary drinks which will just add on more calories.

5. Before they go trick or treating, feed them dinner (a healthy meal first)  That way they won't be tempted as much to eat their goodies.

6. Always, always, go through the candy before you let the kids eat it. The first reason being for safety.  Next you should sort and save the candy - just allow them to have one or two pieces.

7. Sort the best candy then throw out the rest.

FOR YOURSELF

1. Don't buy candy ahead of time.  The longer it is in the house, the more you are tempted to eat it.  Keep the candy out of sight until needed.

2. To stop yourself from raiding the trick or treat bowl, eat a good dinner first.

3. Buy candy treats that you don't like.

AT A HALLOWEEN PARTY?
